Six Travel Apps You Have to Download

Six Travel Apps You Have to Download

The days of printing out step by step directions from MapQuest are over. Yes, technology! Here are some great apps I use to prepare for trips, book tours, get around in a foreign city, and more.

TouchRetouch

This app is the holy grail of retouching photos on the go. I use it all the time for my travel photos, specifically when there’s something in the background ruining an otherwise great photo. We can’t remove a crowd from our vacation, but we can in photos! I even use it to remove a blemish, garbage can, or anything unsightly that’s in my shot.

Citymapper

Avoid getting lost in a foreign city with this nifty transport app. You can download cities for offline use - so no more dealing with slow data coverage. Citymapper provides a variety of direction options depending on the city you’re in: walking, driving, tram, Uber (or any other participating ride share company), subway/train/rail, bus, Citibike, ferry - you name it. You can also download local train maps.

Visit a City

Booked a last minute trip and had literally no time to plan? Don’t fret, Visit A City has you covered. They have itineraries already loaded for you, just pick a city, how many days you’ll be visiting, and the rest is easy. Look for tour ideas, things to do, where to eat, etc.

Hopper

Hopper analyzes prices for flights and hotels and predicts hikes and drops. You can watch flights and get alerts on when and if to book. When searching flights and hotels you can also see their fare calendar and determine your flights based on your budget or dates, if they’re flexible.

They also offer lots of discounts and a reward program that lets you earn points every time you book with them. You can turn those points into “carrot cash” and use towards bookings.
