Where to Get Fried Chicken & Waffles in Brooklyn

Where to Get Fried Chicken & Waffles in Brooklyn

Name a better combo than fried chicken and waffles? I’ll wait. That’s right - there is none. The trendy, Southern dish has taken hold of brunch spots everywhere.

Here’s a list of my favorite spots in Brooklyn to get chicken and waffles.

Sweet Chick

Known for the popular dish, people run over to Sweet Chick on weekends to snag a table. They don’t take reservations, so be prepared to wait a long time. If you don’t like waiting around (like me) stop in during their weekday brunch when it’s quiet. You can also stroll through the busy neighborhood to kill time while you wait. They text you when your table is ready.

During the week, Sweet Chick offers two versions of the trendy meal, the classic plate ($19) and the sandwich ($14). For the plate, you choose two pieces of chicken*, and the flavor of your waffle: classic, dried cherry, spiced pecan, bacon n’ cheddar, apple n’ cinnamon, rosemary + mushroom. The sandwich is a fried chicken breast in a waffle served with fries or salad.

Check out their specials menu as they often do interesting variations on chicken and waffles, such as General Tso’s chicken with a broccoli waffle.

During brunch, you get a classic belgian waffle and two pieces of chicken of your choice (an extra piece will cost $5).

Pies-n-Thighs

This place has a very unassuming diner vibe, but don’t be fooled it gets crowded here too. At a price point of $13.50, you choose from two pieces of chicken atop two buckwheat waffles with cinnamon butter. They do not take reservations to prepare to wait for a table during the weekends.

Sea Wolf

Although they’re known for seafood, their chicken and waffles dish is a popular brunch pick. This $15 dish is served with plump, fried chicken breast and waffles with bourbon maple butter. While the space is big, brunch is a lively atmosphere - so be sure to make reservations.

Soco

A Southern cuisine staple in Brooklyn! The $20 dish takes on the classic meal with two choices of organic, buttermilk fried chicken and red velvet waffles! Reservations are highly recommended as this restaurant is very popular.

Walter’s

Their menu serves up a mix of classic brunch dishes, but their chicken and waffles ($16) is a standout. The fried chicken is nicely seasoned and crispy. The space is fairly small, so keep in mind when showing up on the weekends.

Peaches Hothouse

While they don’t serve chicken and waffles, per se, they do have chicken and french toast ($16), which is worth checking out due to their amazing Nashville-style fried chicken. If you’re daring, you can get the chicken hot or extra hot.
